Official Rules & Regulations: EA SPORTS FC 26 Tournament

  • Please read the following rules and regulations carefully to ensure a fair, competitive, and sportsmanlike environment for everyone.

1. General Tournament Structure

  • Tournament Format: Direct knockout / Single elimination (Best of One)—there is no losers' bracket. The winner advances to the next round, and the loser is eliminated.
  • Platform: PlayStation 5 (PS5), played offline via a Local Area Network (LAN).
  • Game: EA SPORTS FC 26
  • Team Selection: National Teams only.
  • Equitability Rule (World Cup Theme): Teams will be assigned via a random draw. To align with the theme and requirements of Sohar International, all teams will be set to a uniform overall rating of 95 (Overall 95) to guarantee absolute equality between players.

2. In-Game Match Settings

All matches must be played in Kick-Off mode (Classic Match) using the following official settings:

  • Half Length: 5 minutes (Total match duration: 10 minutes).
  • Game Speed: Normal.
  • Controller Settings: Any preference (Any/Auto, Semi, or Manual).
  • Camera Settings: Tele Broadcast, or any other camera agreed upon by both players before the match begins.

3. Draw and Extra Time Rules

Since this is a single-elimination tournament, a winner must be determined in every match:

  • If the match ends in a draw after the regular in-game 90 minutes, players will proceed directly to Extra Time (Classic Extra Time).
  • If the draw persists after Extra Time, the winner will be decided by a Penalty Shootout.

4. Hardware, Controllers, and Accessories

  • Equipment Provided: The organizing committee will provide official PS5 DualSense controllers
  • Gameplay settings: Preset: competitive
  • Personal Equipment: Players are permitted to bring their own PS5 DualSense controllers. However, the organizing committee bears no responsibility for any technical issues or hardware faults regarding personal equipment.
  • Connection Rule: Controllers must be connected via USB cable to prevent Bluetooth signal interference in the LAN environment.
  • Technical Faults: If a controller disconnects or a screen turns off during active play, the player must raise their hand immediately to alert the referee. The referee will pause the match to resolve the issue.

5. Pausing and Tactical Rules

  • In-Game Pausing: Pausing the game while the ball is in active play or during a challenge is strictly prohibited. Pausing during active play will result in a warning. A second offense will lead to an automatic forfeit (loss of the match).
  • Legal Pausing: Players may only press the pause button when the ball is out of play (throw-in, goal kick, corner kick, or foul) and only when they have possession of the ball, or during halftime.
  • Pause Limits: Each player is allowed a maximum of 3 pauses per match (excluding halftime) for substitutions or tactical adjustments. Each pause must not exceed 45 seconds.

6. Conduct and Sportsmanship

  • Punctuality: Players must report to their assigned gaming station 10 minutes before their scheduled match time. A maximum grace period of 10 minutes from the start time will be given. If a player fails to show up, they will be considered withdrawn, and their opponent will advance automatically.
  • Equipment Care: Any intentional damage to tournament property (screens, PS5 consoles, tables, or controllers) will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament and a ban from future events.
  • General Conduct: Unsportsmanlike behavior, offensive language, or physical/verbal attempts to distract an opponent will not be tolerated.
  • Referees' Decisions: On-site referees have full authority to disqualify any violating player immediately. All decisions made by the tournament referees are final, binding, and not subject to change.

💡 Note to Players: Please consult the on-site referees if you have any questions before starting your match.
